A Note From Soar Childcare

Hello! We're the Walker family, and we're excited to tell you about our childcare service.

My name is Marion Walker, and I'm a qualified teacher with a master's degree in special education. I'm a registered childminder, regulated by Ofsted. I've taught in primary schools in both the US and the UK and have worked with children from birth to five years old in a variety of settings.

After my husband, Graeme, and I had our two daughters, Hannah and Lara, I chose to stay at home with them. But I soon realised how much I missed teaching and the energy of the classroom. Becoming a childminder was the perfect solution—it allowed me to be home for my own girls while continuing my career and passion for nurturing children. I have now been childminding for 17 years and have never looked back.

I have a Master's Degree in teaching and a Level 3 qualification in childminding as well as my paediatric first aid certification. I'm proud to say that in my last four Ofsted inspections, I received an Outstanding rating in all areas. My husband, Graeme, is also a qualified primary school teacher and joined me several years ago after seeing how much I enjoyed childminding. He also received an Outstanding rating on all of his Ofsted inspections.

Our Philosophy and Environment

At Soar Childcare, we believe that every child should have fun, learn a lot, feel valued, and genuinely enjoy their time with us. We provide a "home from home" environment, with the added benefit of two highly trained teachers who are always working to improve our practice.

We've created a fantastic space for your children to learn and play. Our home in Bishop's Stortford features a very large designated playroom and a big outdoor area. This allows us to easily change our setting to match the needs and interests of the children. We also have two friendly cats, Eclipse and Tobi, who are not usually in the playroom but are available for cuddles if you give permission.

We also use an online system to keep you updated on your child's day. We can share photos and information about our activities, send you ideas to try at home, and keep a digital record of your little one's learning journey.

At Soar Childcare, you get the resources of a larger setting with a much smaller, more personalised service.
